Causes of Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation has many causes. In most cases, it can be caused by a plethora of mental and physiological causes. Premature ejaculation might simply be caused by weak muscles (most often the PC muscles), strengthening which can remedy the issue.  On the other hand, research has shown it can be a mixture of physical and non-physical factors (such as stress). Most often weak muscles are the cause of PE (in about 73% of the cases).

Symptoms

There have been many attempts made to make a specific definition of what qualifies as premature ejaculation and what does not. Currently there are two guidelines:

  • Master and Johnson define it as a male suffers from PE if he ejaculates before his spouse orgasms more than 50% of the time.
  • Researchers have suggested that a male suffers from premature ejaculation if he ejaculates in under two minutes of penetration. A survey taken (by Alfred Kinsey in 1950s) showed that nearly 70% of men could not last even 2 minutes.

The current idea of PE is more subjective and often depends on an individual’s perception of how happy he cam make his wife.
